No it`s not just you I was determined not to like it but it has a certain something and the 39K with the history makes you a little tempted. How Escort does that front grill look though ????? Might even follow this one and see what she ends up going for. In five years time we`ll all wish we bought it
Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 8) But in a weird way
Had one as a loaner for a few weeks when they were new.
The reason they sold was because the extras you normally had to order and pay for separately on most cars at the time came included in the very reasonable purchase price.
They were amongst the very first of the "fridge" cars eg. they were bought by customers who had no interest in cars and just wanted transport. They were unutterably boring, dreary little cars to drive but reliable.
Unfortunately they also used to rust in the brochure, hence this rare survivor - Zeibart, when correctly applied, is amazingly good.
Back in the 70's Japanese made goods had a reputation akin to todays Chinese goods and it was only years later that they started to move upmarket, as they gradually lost their price based competitive edge.
So - not for me this one but I do understand that others will like this and other vehicles like Ford anglias or allegros etc and its a good thing theres a few preserved by enthusiasts, so others can enjoy seeing them too.
My grandad used to have an orange one, then a navy blue one, all in a long line of Datsuns and Nissans. Finally broke him out of it a couple of years ago and he now drives a focus :msn4:
Sorry to but in, what about this. Thinking of gettin it for my Daughter, she rather have a bloody classic Mini.
Although she does think it 8) & a bit different from a V-Dub, she's a bit Arty-Farty, Ive owned a couple of these in the past but would really like to get hold of a 1959/60 PV544 sport.

These cars are not like volvo's from the 1970's,80's, they can really go with very little tweaking plus excellent brakes.
ah my very first car which i bought from my grandad for £80 back in the day.........it was crap but fun .......gone to the great scrapyard in the sky now and i got a fiver for it too
A friend of mine had one of those Datsuns. Fab little car it was.
It's amazing what's out there. I've seen delivery mileage classics (Mk1 Cortinas and the like). Mind you, the prices they've been up for has been a little scary too!
I had one of these as my second car, considerably more powerful than my first car ( Renault 4 ). An elderly aunty gave it to me. One of the first 'urban shuttles' shaped like a mini Mustang 8) with an Austin style engine minus the oil leaks. I'm sure it's long since rusted away.
I had one of these when I was 17, it was my second car and I drove from Brighton to Rhyll in it on the off chance of losing my cherry (and I don't mean the car!) I had to carry a hammer in the boot as the starter motor used to stick! Good times!
Love the Datsun, infact love most 70s Datsuns (Mini Americana)
Nothing needs to be said about the Volvo.........nice to drive, reliable and keep their money, nuff said.
