(Edit: Changed Heading for better reference)

Hi All,

I've got an industrial 1600 engine 126 code and it came with what I think extra tins below the heads.
First there's a little piece of tin where the thermostat rod goes through, this is on the bottom of both heads, see below.
Is this normal or should I remove it?

Then there are tins on both sides below the head and it separates the J-tube or heatexchanger from the area below the pushrods. Is this a good thing keeping the area below the cylinders from getting heat from the heatexchangers?
Or should I remove these?

Thanks

Andy

The lower tins were fitted on industrial engines that had J tubes and not heat exchangers. They help deflect the warmth of the J tubes. I am after a set if you want to part with it :msn4:

The bit on the cylinder head helps seal up the gap between cylinders and therefore forces the air over the fins a bit more.

Hey George,

I thought the thermostat pushrod tins might have been on all heads, wasn't sure though.

I thought the lower tins would be quite helpful keeping the cylinders and head a bit cooler.

So these are not standard then, it's been awhile since I took my tins off...

These tins are very basic, no welded nuts on them. I can trace them off for you to fab up if you like.
Alternatively if you can guarantee to have them back to me by the end of the week I can send you them to use as templates.

Cheers.

Andy

Hi George,

I'll try to trace them with dimensions for you today and will post photos of it on here tonight.
Mind you I'm not a technical draughter...

Cheers.

Hey guys,

below are a few pictures and dimensions.
Let me know if you need any other measurements.
Pictured is the tin below cylinders 3 & 4, the other tin will be cut out exactly the same but the bends should be going the other way if that makes sense.

Side view -

Front view -

Sketches were traced off the tin and measured with a tape.

Full length and width needed for tin, pecked lines are bends with description of direction -

Full sheet -

Section left closeup -

Section right closeup -

Section with holes, please mind that it was traced upside down, so look on the right side the 2mm and 6mm should be flipped -

Let me know if you need anything else.
I can send the sheet if needed.

Cheers.

Andy

Gee ya can buy em off Deimos if needed , and to answer the above if you run jtubes and no industrial tin , well you have been warned rap if you gun ya engine loads

Read this One with interest as run J tubes but as at work can't run down the drive to see if I've got the tin..... had a look on Deimos site and can only see the head deflectors on there, am I missing some thing Dave or do you know of another place that sells the rest ? cheers for the heads up !
