Okay, so I've just about fitted the wiring and now need just to buy the leisure battery.

What size would you guys recommend and, more importantly as it's going to go in the engine bay, what will fit?

Also, for those of you with one in the bay how have you secured these as I believe that it has to be secured come MOT time (something which I'll also have to address for my standard battery!)

110ah, try to get one with the earth stud the spare wheel well end. Numax it the make I have. Just using a universal battery clamp and two 10mm diameter threaded studs.

Is that clamp the one that loops over the top of the battery and also when fitting it did you have to add any reinforcement or did you just drill straight through the tray ?

I recently upgraded my leisure battery to a 115ah Halfords one

Its a snug fit but should work well

Its secured by a clamp as illustrated in the pic

Was only £90 including a 2 year warranty

There you go, I used some decent thick washers under the nuts that secure the studs to the tray.

Battery was from Tayna.com £75 delivered if you like their Facebook page. Used some laminate flooring to slide the battery into position as they are a tad heavy.

Thanks guys that's really helpfull. The halfords one does look a bit of a squeeze but on the other hand I do have a trade card do might have to see if leisure batteries are covered by this ;)

Its a tight fit but the terminals are recessed so less chance of it fuzing on the chassis if it does move should the worse happen!
Think 115ah is the biggest you can get in that space 8)

Do make sure you are buying a leisure battery and not a starter battery. LBs are constructed differently to allow a slow, deep cycle, starters are designed for fast, shallow starting cycles. Makes a difference to the life expectancy of the battery.

Did you manage to find out if you can use a trade card for leisure batteries at Halfords, I have one so if its a decent saving I might one.
