Looking for a mobile mechanic to do a top end rebuild. Low compression on 3 an 4.

Im based in Uxbridge north west London/ middlesex

pm me if interested

Its a cali 1972 with a 2000cc, was put in some time over here! It doesnt hav the engine inspection cover so I presume it would have started out life as a 1600cc bus?

or 1700 details will be on your M plate though irrelevant in this context.....

you could also try SlammedKustom Chris works out of Tottenham but was very busy last year....

oooh yes...give Slammedkustom a call he luvs Type 4's  having spent many hours. weeks , months living in my enginebay he knows what a type 4 looks like

But on a serious note....is the motor a 2 liter, does the code start with CJ ? type 4's suffer with several inherent cylinderhead faults
1st. dropped valve inserts, 2nd valves needing constant resetting (my no.4 cyl exhaust valve always needs to be adjusted/ before the rebuild it was cyl 3 valves)
As much as I like Type4's the cost of rebuilding one is almost the same price as a mexican type 1 (without checking I think TES charges
£1100-1200 for a type4 rebuild)

I hope you get it sorted

Defo a 2 ltr, I haven't been and checked the code today, the guy i got it from said it was a 2 ltr, i have a mate who has been re- building air cooled engines for 20 or so years and he said its a 2 ltr!

He was going to the engine rebuild but he has too much work at the moment. want to get the engine sorted before i do anything else with it.
