Despite being a single 19 year old, no kids, it is amazing how often having 8 seats comes in handy!
Not to mention I can remove them and carry stupidly large loads by undoing 10 bolts and pulling the seats out.
I will be fitting some Z-bed hinges to the rear seat to make it better for camping. However, when camping, I would have an awning for the cooking etc, so I don't need to have a cooker etc in the van permenantly.
This cunningly reduces weight when I am driving it daily
Also, I *think* I will be able to move the middle seat round to make the inside of the van nicer and a more sociable layout for sitting in when camping in too.
All I need is an awning, some Z bed hinges and my van to pass its next MOT for the summer
i was going to keep mine as a microbus as i need seven seats ( too many kids ) but then after thinking it out i decided to buy a danbury interior and bin the sink so ive got seven forward facing seats or can have the rears facing and then i can still have a bed without losing my boot space
Got to back up VW addict- I didn't quite realise when I bought mine but the mighty Danbury allows the best of both worlds or given the layout possibilities all worlds!
Microbuses are way cooler than campers in my opinion but you can have both. I've fitted a full width rock n'roll bed and kept my middle seat and original fitting bolts/brackets by moving it forward about 5 inches. Still have loads of leg room. Not quite an original layout but can still carry 7 people and it looks fairly 'standard'. Main problem is the back of the rear seat sits higher than a standard rear bench. I'm keeping my original just in case I want to go back to 100% stock.
I do love microbuses and would love an og minter, but camping is such a big part of the bus ownership that a proper camper is the way forward, for me.
Of course, ideally, Id have both ...
I'll try make mine a bit of both, having walk through, seats for 7 (two seats heading backwards behing the front seats) and making Z-hinges for the rear seat.
ah the mysterious "z" hinges. I can`t wait to see some in action as i too love the microbus works particularly well when you have kids. Sometimes though i`d like to kip in it.
