misfiring ?????

Help.... I'm trying to maintain my camper myself now ,so bare with me.
Over Christmas the van started spluttering and generally misfiring!!!
i changed the plugs and points and all seemed well. Went out today and same problem is back ?? checked gap on plugs and all leads and all look ok ??
Whats next ???
Camper is in for a total refurb in September so id like to get as much use as i can before i strip it all down. I'd like to sort it myself if possible rather than take it to my garage as i'm keen to learn.

I'm no mechanic but it could be to do with the carb ?? the idle may need adjusting or indeed the mixture

Check for air leaks around the carb and manifolds.
