One of the dangerous things about being self employed and finding a new hobby is that you can spend days reading about campervans!

I'm looking at options; original vans lacking plug sockets and modernised vans lacking original charm.

How much work is there involved converting a U.S. bus to have UK plug sockets, mp3 players, UK hook up?

What kind of price for someone to carry out the work?

Not a lot of work at all, if it has a US hook up, plugs are available to fit this for the external socket,(or a new one can be fitted underneath or in the engine bay) then a simple consumer unit and sockets. Modern stereos will fit in the dash if the hole is enlarged or they can be hidden elsewhere.

If you are looking at doing this its also worth installing a leisure battery with a split charge unit to charge whilst on route and then having a battery charger for when you are connected to a mains hook up. Connected the stereo to your leisure battery feed and charging your ipod etc from this prevents flattening the starter battery feed.
