Hi all. Im fairly new to all this so please go easy. Ive a 68 microbus deluxe with 5 x 205 wheels all round which I'm currently restoring.

In my excitement, before christmas I bought a set of 17" porsche fuch from cool air which you lot will obviously know are 5x112 thinking I would just buy some hub adapters.
After looking around and reading I think because of their width this is going to be a no go. Also they seem to cost a small fortune in comparison to the other adaptor plates. To make things worse I also spent £150 on brake parts to give the 5x205's a service which I still havent fitted.

So now, do I . . . .

A - try and sell the fuch on and buy some 5x 205 alloys which il lose out on or . .
B - buy/fit late spindles/discs/hubs

Ideally I'd like to fit the 17" Fuch but what would the costs be? Would I be able to shift on my 5x205 hubs/spindles/wheels/new brake parts very easily? Would anyone be interested in swapping their late spindles/ discs etc or am I just dreaming?

Any replies greatly appreciated

Cheers,
Nigel

graham at midland early bay is braking a 1971 bus. buy the front spindles hubs and rear drums off him and your away. front disks too. :D win win. or sell the rims too me :D

i cant see it costing you a great deal to get the bits required. then get new shoes and pads etc. i bet you could do a full swap for around 200 notes all in.

Really? Interesting. Ive pm'd Graham but no reply yet so shall see what he can come up with. How much should I advertise the wide 5 stuff bearing in mind all new pads, shoes, lines etc etc

I sold mine in minutes, in fact I was hounded for them before they were even off the van. I let the rear end go for £200 which in hind sight was a bit cheap. I reckon £250 isn't too far out of the way.

The front ones were a bit harder to shift, I think the whole lot went for £60 - £70.

Petes right if your intent on fitting the small 5s then selling your wide 5s shouldnt be a problem, personally I prefer the look of the wide 5 wheels but then hell I have a 71 and like steels the other point is that if you post them here you have the right audience....the sambas good as is VZI for selling  if nothing else it will offset the cost and maybe if you really want to get it done Graham and Gadget will,l do a swap deal with you after all there business men there other user name (business) is MEB.

thinking about it anyone done a servo assisted drum conversion from disc and results please....

You can't redrill due to the construction of the drums.

I am fitting 15" Fuchs as soon as they are polished & detailed. I have fitted all the late running gear.

They will be gone in minutes on VZi.
