So I'm getting a 71 westy (in case you hadn't heard) which will have disc brakes on the the front and what I believe are called Narrow 5 wheels. If I wanted to swap them back to 'early' wheels (wide 5) can I do this? What would it involve and does it compromise safety or anything.

I think 71 came with disc brakes and narrow 5 wheels as standard so you wouldn't be swapping it back to wide 5 you would be converting it to wide 5

I don't think there is any cheap way of doing it other than using wheel adaptors which add track and look naff so I would just leave as is

If you are going to do a conversion why not go to 130pcd so you can have Porsche breaks etc.

Thanks for the replies. If it was relatively easy I'd convert to the 'early' wheels as I like the look but not that fussed. I may think about an upgrade in the future.

My bus has narrow 5 front end which had wheel adapters. I went with just narrow 5 wheels so if you do want to change I have them for sale in the for sale section. Also have the rear wide 5 hubs etc on there as well. I presume it's the reverse of what I've done.

Simon Butland ( Buttys Bits) has just started to remake wheel adapters that go from 5x112 to 5 x 205 and I also know that vintage autohaus offer a similar product :)
