Hi there,
I have a new engine, but the flywheel oil seal may need replacing. I'm down south and the engine builder is further north.

So I'm going to have to get the engine out at some garage, and trying to find a garage that will store a van without an engine is a nightmare in london!

Not sure what to do, maybe I should just get the seal replaced in my local garage and be done with it!

flywheel oil seal is a simple thing to replace with the right tools, any garage should be able to manage it. Just make sure you use a genuine german seal to replace it, the repro seals are pure ****. I put one in and had to pull it two months later :(

Get a genuine seal from your main agent, they're cheaper than elsewhere

The engine is under warranty, so I need to send the engine back to the builder. He has been very good about it, so I'm going to have to arrange for a mobile mechanic to come round and remove the engine. The engine builder will pay for it to be replaced. What a hassle!
