Hi,

Our 71 finally went off to the bodyshop - where nigh on all its chassis (amongst other panels!) will be repaired/replaced.

As the bus will be pretty much down to a shell - what parts etc should I take the opportunity to renew or replace?

i.e

- replace standard rear hatch glass with a heated version?
- fit a cigarette lighter?
- fit an electric windscreen washer kit?

Any other suggestions?

Cheers,

Mike

The list is endless really....

I would look at a re-wire, replace rubbers.
What are your handles/locks like, might be a good time to change/refurb.
Heated rear window - most Vans, when in holiday mode, you can't see
through it, so I wouldn't (perhaps but a hinged one in though).

Insulation and sound deadening would be top of the list though!

Good look with the work :!:

No need to strip a bus to a bare shell to fit a ciggy lighter :D

Nows your chance to change a skruffy roof lining and trim between the windows.
New window rubbers, and chrome trim go a long way on fresh paint.

It's primarily gonna be a day-bus so r-n-r bed for deffo - and rear seat belts for the saucepan-lids :)

New rubbers are on the list (and have some westy louvres to replace centre windows too). Liking the smooth look (at the moment) - so will pass on the deluxe/chrome trim for now.

A re-wire is a possibility. Will get the old loom assessed (looks fairly intact - and does not appear to have been hacked about for stereo's etc), but a 240-hook up could be useful.

Headlining is grubby - and small rip where overhead Danbury locker was fitted (and then removed) at some time in the past. We are considering a new headliner. Will get some quotes first :)

Have considered a rear safari, but don't know how practical they are - do they leak like the splitty safari's? Are they secure(ish)?

I still say fit the Bar....

get a nice party atmos going mix a few coctails, a barrel of ale on tap

Reminds me of that joke...

Man walks into a bar...

Ouch!

Ok... I'll get me coat :(
