Hi,

Just purchased a 1972 dormi, with 1600 vege engine, believe to be twin port

So I want to give it a good service ready for the summer ahead, can anyone recommend a list of things to do.

My original thoughts were:

Oil and related seals
Oil strainer
Plugs
rocker cover gaskets??

was planning to change to electronic ignition and install alternator (as im hooking up leisure battery and gizmo's)
are these relatively simple jobs?

Thanks
Luke

I would change the leads aswell, but thats only me and maybe the tappets

Also, wouldnt bother with an electronic ignition, but go alternator for sure

Buy both Haynes and Bentley manuals and follow the service schedules in there. It's important to do everything in the right order - valve clearances, points and timing first, then carb tuning. Change oil last. While you are full of enthusiasm adjust brakes, grease up front beam, top up and adjust steering box, drain gearbox oil and renew it - chances are that it's over 30 years old  Oil hinges, adjust door plates etc etc...............................
