Oil bath air filter - oil question

Fitting an oil bath soon. What oil should i use and how many litres do i need?
Is this a regular change as part of a service?

Same oil as you've filled the engine with, and enough to reach the line in the filter base.
It needs changing whenever you replace the engine oil.

Why not use the same oil, saves having to buy two different types.

True. It's just that the Halfords Classic oil i use is well expensive. There are loads of cheaper types out there.
Just not sure what grade is really required.

i just chuck the cheapest 20/50 i can find in the oil bath , and a better 20/50 one in the engine . the reason i do this the oil i use in the engine a
5L can just about does 2 oil changes and a bit for topping up , if i use it in the oil bath i end up not having enough for a second oil change
