Oil bather air filter spring/thermostat

Hi, I have a oil bath air filter but It does not have the thermostat stat arrangement the one that is operated by a spring and a wax filled thermostat can i get hold of one or am i 'flogging a dead horse', I heard the type 3 oil bath filters were a better design? So I should I look out for one of them and does anyone know where i can get my oily hands on one??

You used to be able, in the last 6 months or so, get the thermostat from VWH as a classic part. I don't know if they still have any though.

As to the spring etc. if someone has one they could lend you, so that you get the right spring strength etc., then you could probably replicate it.
