Hi
With the impending demise of the tax disc I was going to get a copy of the original tax disc for my bus.
Question is did they do a 6 month option back in 1970 as I'd like the year to reflect the year it was registered.

Why didn't I buy my bus years ago !?

I intend to do the same thing. To answer your question, it was actually a four month licence or 12 months. The six month licence was introduced in the early 80s.

I'm going to get one from this place as you can select the date stamp as well as the year...!! Mine will be 15th May and now i know about the 4 month timing, i'll have it Sept 72..!! 8)

If you use the chap in my link he can "issue" the disc from the original licencing office.

Ordered one last evening, and got a response almost instantly.

For under £7 it is a nice little addition to the story of the bus. :D
