One of the next up-coming jobs on my bus is to refit the rear window side-glass.

I've decided to go with a sliding window for the two side-middle windows like this:

For the rear-side windows, I would like to go with an opening quarter-light, but these are really hard to find in good condition second-hand and no-one fabricates new ones. :|

Are the only two options solid or second-hand opening quarter-light? :?

i`m doing the same thing fella but going with westy middle windows for both sides and i`m taking out my rear quarterlight and replacing with a single piece of glass as there will be more than enough ventilation and also as its over forty years old it could do with a refurb...

like the slider windows btw nice

i've just got one of those sliding windows to go in my sliding door to replace the westy window, you can also buy a sliding rear window as well, just over a year ago these centre windows were £80 now £230!

Yep, the rear quarters seem to be a trap for corrosion. :facehugger:

I know, I can't work out why. I assumed that C+C had changed supplier or something, so then checked JK and they are around the same price. So either there is only one supplier who has raised the price or suddenly they are in high demand and low supply? :?

I should have bought them when they were cheaper :sad0049:

Hi peeps. !

I've a pair of these early Ali finish not black waiting 2b fitted anybody know which rubber seals they take to fit. ? Cheers Bud.

this is what I am doing too...

I got a pair of these sliding windows for mine as well. Got one fitted and it`s superb used a regular C&C rubber to fit, got one yet to fit in the fixed panel. The ones I have also have a seperate fly screen window as well which is a big bonus with all the heat we`ve had this summer and all the mozzies as well (he then wakes up) Not much of a summer was it. Since I had mine in, I`ve noticed that there is a couple of different types, as some stick out from the rubber and some fit in from the rubber if that makes any sense at all :? This might be over obvious but go carefull what you fit on the rear side window on the slider side in case it fouls the slider

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,, But ,,,, no ones that dim :p Or are they ??? ;)

Good point Ozzydog, I didn't know there were different types of slider window. I'd want them to be as flush as possible.

Which ones do you have? Can you remember where you got them? :poke:

Although westy louvred windows don't look the best they are great and I'd fit them in any bus I had. You can crack them open at night to help cut down on the vondensation without worrying about the rain, they can be cranked right open when it's hot ( reminder to uk owners to just check they still work this far due to lack of use lately)
Although they are pretty flimsy looking, I think you would have to spend a while messing about with them to break in, and having the muzzy net fitted also works in the uk at slowing down the gale blowing through the open window.
Like I said they don't look the best, but those rear 1/4 windows just don't look good and are rust traps I believe (abut like the rear safari)

Just found this:

The sliders for the middle windows are a decent option, but do pose a bit of a security risk, you cant leave the van with them open, unlike the louvred ones which you can leave ajar reasonably safely.

The rear quarterlight sections can be found in good second hand condition quite easily, but again, can cause a security risk albeit reduced and long term rust issues.

CLYDE,, if you are having troubles with Vondensation, you may be the only one. Is that condensation caused by sweating off too much Vodka that you`ve drunk ???? ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, Just drink Stella

True, that's why i decided to go for replacing one westy louvre only, i opted for the sliding door so i can have it fully open but keep the door shut while in the awning and be able to hear the radio without having it blasting out. Job for the winter when the van is inside the warehouse at work and sorn'ed.
