original paint 70 westy hardtop, "The Lunch Box"

Just bought and drove the bus home 1000 miles from San Jose California. Found it on thesamba.com. I will share the story when I have more time. All original paint. Plans are to buff the paint, powdercoat the bumpers and wheels and drive it as is.

Yup, it was a huge job of tracking him down. Not to rub it in but it is as good if not better than I expected. I will fill you in tonight when I get home from work and have time to tell you the story.

Yours sounds good, do you have any pictures?
I needed a hardtop because a pop top is to high to get into my garage. I just posted the first part of my story in the general chat section check it out there. I will post the rest of the journey home asap.

I'm digging up an old one here. I was going to put this in the picture of the day but thought I would post it here. When I was out a few weeks ago grabbing my beetle from storage I took a few pics of our OG paint tintop Westy. It has been in storage there since 2008 when I drove it home from California. I hope to get at it soon. Its sad to say I bought Big Red after owning this one. My plans are to give it the same treatment as the sunroof bus. 'Ive been collecting cool parts for it over the past years including a baywindow specific original Westfalia woodslat rack. I took the hubcaps off to get the colour matched for Big Red and it hasn't been touched since


Hopefully it won't be another 5 years before I update this post.
