Overheating engine

Hi all, just had fitted a gold recon engine 1600 tp, the engine is overheating that much it is melting the black bung that goes into the dizzy, any ideas on what the cause maybe would be great, dont whant the hassle of sending back and getting a new one fiitted, timing is spot on and all tinware is in position. "just had fitted" does that mean you delivered the van and engine to a garage to have the work done?

Yes, to a garage that has done work on it for years.

Yep take it back or get them to collect, could be a few thing causing it to over heat.
Thermostat not opening flaps
flaps stuck
timing way to advanced
too little oil
oil pump not working correctly
very lean fuel air mixture
bad air leak in intake system
Exhaust valves not closing fully
