hi over christmas im goin to do some work on my van but..
im fitting a new dormobile canvas
and im goin to paint the roof. both van and pop top.
my van is neptune blue so do i do the roof and top all blue.or go for an off white??
please help
also if any one has pics of dormobiles with or with out painted roofs .pop tops
please post them up i need ideas thanks :? :? :?

Personally I would do the roof neptune blue and if possible dont paint the pop top at all. If it is stained etc this can be got off using a powdered cleaner used for cleaning boat hulls (it can be bought from Tim at http://www.dormobile.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for about a tenner) - thats what I did with mine, lots of elbow grease but well worth it as it came up great. If you have worse damage to pop top then I have read a thread somewhere about repairing / re gel coating the f/glass, seemed quite a big job though. Or maybe you could pick up a better condition pop top for 100 ish quid?.

I dont much like seeing painted Dormy pop tops (just not to my taste) there is a picture of a velvet green D 4/6 with its top painted owned by one of the comittee of the Dormobile owners club on http://www.dormobile.org.uk/VW_New.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I guess if you did paint it maybe you could use a satin finish paint to avoid the "over glossy" look.

Dont paint the pop top body colour, it just make campers look wrong when this is done in my opinion.

Keep the classic look after all isn't that what appealed to you when you bough the van?

cool neptune and pastel for me. just went out and got the paint .already got my pop top fabric. i will post up some pics as i start work on boxing day 8)
