hi does anyone know anything about fitting porsche gearboxes into vans. which ones fit etc does it take a lot of effort

Sorry chap, not sure, but I know a man who will!

Step up Mr Slammed Kustom!!!! :D

why thank you easy, im flattered
okay, open side door, lob gearbox in, slam door shut, open beer!

Seriously its an involved job getting it to fit and sorting the linkages.
a lot easier in a late bay or a crossover than in an earlybay
check out the new issue of C+C as Mr eccles said. its not an easy job but you could talk to Vince at C+M supreme or ask gadgetboy on here as some of his mates run porsche engines n boxes in bays.

what engine you planning on running?

there is also the problem of how the clutch engages, maybe use a slave cylinder off a T25?

good luck dude

Hello :D
Firstly Is the box any good as a rebuild of a 915 porka box can be the best part of 1200 quid and thats after youve bought it

915s are the best to use and the smallest but the hard part is getting the linkage to work as mounting them involves the og bracket and sum 10mm drilled and tapped plates welded just outside the front tosion housing . The linkage runs quite low and is at the bottom of the box as opposed to the top on a bus box so alot of folk cut out the central heating tube and run the linkage down there .

To give you some idea of the work involved Ben Leiws and Matt Turbo Keene have just opened a workshop in devon called AIRkraft doing performance engine and bodywork as well as the general stuff . They have just fitted a 915 box into Chris Lambournes turbo black split . The work involved was tremendous but they said to do it again would be around the 3K mark

Its ALOT of work and if you dont know what your doin Id give it a miss it can be done but youve got to get the right year box and making it all work i.e clutch/linkage /starter and the flywheel which is a porsche /Vw hybrid is the VERY hard part

I hope this helps

the box i found was a 901. aparently they are smaller than a 915. and are dogleg. which would be cool. acording to they guy selling it, it is good working order. the engine was gona be the alfa boxer out of the alfa 145 ive bought. but the scooby route may be a better option due to more info about these being available. do you guys think its doable. the guys on racetaxi fitted full porker 993 turbo everything so i suppose everything is possible

the race taxi was widened too to take the running gear!

And welded nearly all a type 25 in underneath to take the 993 running gear  . If your going to all this trouble why not bolt a 82/83 3 litre 911 engine in to your box factory reliabilty and 204 BHP too . All you have to do is swap the inside cvs to Porkas
