Evening all, have a slight problem with my propex. When turning on to just cold the fan starts but then turns off then seconds later comes back on. This on off sequence continues. When trying to add gas the orange light flashes 5 times, which means it has a airflow problem. I've checked the intake and exhaust and both are clear and located correctly. The orange light then flashes 8 times which means there is a voltage overload! I've had the heater working before with no problems! Can anybody help??

Which model is it and how old? Propex changed the airflow sensor as the originals were prone to faults. I had to change mine earlier this year. The original was a fan with a black and white pattern on it and an IR sensor.

When i dismantled it i found that mine had some dirt on the sensor so i probably didn't need the new sensor but I changed it anyways as it was apart. The new one is a better design and less prone to failure

Ahhh 7 months old will have the new sensor already. Definitely call them. They were very helpful on the 2 occasions I spoke to them about my second hand unit

Propex are very helpful. I had this issue and they advised to blow up the intake as the sensor thing can get a bit of dust on it which stops the ignition sequence (5 flashes). An air line is best but i managed to get it going by using a camping bed 'blower upper' once.....

One other thing, my unit is under the bed on the sloping bulkhead. I had my pipes turned from the unit across the chassis bit to opposite sides, then turned down and to the rear, my thoughts were to minimise crap getting into it. As a trial and error I moved the end of the intake so it just pointed down, so one less bend i suppose. It seems to have worked this way without blowing up the end now. Don't know why but i am thinking maybe the additional bends cause some turbulance or the like which affects the sensor too.

Just my experience. good luck with it.

Spoke to David at Propex yesterday and what a helpful chap! He has advised me that the 8 orange flashes sound like a problem with the PCB. I have removed it from the unit and sent it to Propex, who are going to check it all, fix or send a new one. Hopefully that will fix it, will keep you updated!
