Just fitted a replacement engine hatch on my '71. Problem is that is won't shut tight like the previous. And to open it I now have to slide a chisel between the gap and jimmy the lock. I have tried sliding the striker plate backwards and forwards with the same result. Can anyone help cos it's pi$$ing me off. :x

where did the seal come from? i would have suggested shaving a thin piece off the back of the seal and refitting.

It should bed down eventually if its a good quality seal.

It doesn't feel like the seal is pushing the top out, but the lock on the hatch and the striker not meeting properly.
ie When the hatch is pushed closed to where it should be, the hook bit sits too far in and not touching the striker plate keeping the hatch tight to the seal.
