I have an annoying leak through the top edge of my rear hatch seal. I had it renewed a few weeks back using best quality german seals as the leak was very bad before. OK, it hasnt rained that heavily since we had it done so I havnt been able to gauge if it had worked or not..... it hasnt :(

Ive been working inside the van today cos of the rain and its been dripping in from the top of the hatch quite a lot. We've just spent a load of cash on new fabrics for the curtains and recovering the bed foam etc. so i aint putting it in till this is fixed.

Ive been looking along the seal as the hatch closes and it seemed to foul a little bit on the curtain rail that runs along the top of the window. So i took it off, dried it all off and watched.... still no difference. The water just seeps in and pools on the top of the window till it runs down. Ive also smeared the seal with vaseline to see if it made any difference - but no :(

What can i do to tighten this up???? I need it sorted by Big Bang

is it possible you could adjust the hatch so it closes better/tighter onto the seal ?

Went out today to have a go at the hatch and I dont have the correct tools for the job so i spent a while just lookin at it

Its doin me fookin nut in

Ive tried a rubber-foam draught excluder on the opposing face of the door thinkin it it might help close the gap. It did, but the water now runs in under the rubber foam  Does anyone have a picture of how a working seal looks so i can compare it to how mine looks? Even a diagram or anything...... help!!!!!!

Post pics of yours fella lets have a look, away at the mo with no other reference other than the rapidly depleting grey matter......

Wierdest thing happened though - on sunday afternoon i had dried out the back area where it was leaking, then it started chucking it down again and it pissed me so i just let it rain went inside. Came back out about an hour later when it was still raining and had a look but there was no leak this time :? :?:

On one hand im chuffed, but on the other its doin my head in!!!!!

Try dusting seal in talcum powder, close hatch and pour water over the area, let it dry then open hatch, any areas that water is leaking through should be free from powder. this may help to locate leak. Also in 2nd from last picture looks like seal is not sitting flat in channel?

clean the rubber and hatch down getting rid of any thing that shouldnt be there....

get your hands on a marking agent something like engineers blue and ease the hatch down carefully into full locked position (without putting too much pressure so the hatch flexes), then open and see where it has and has not transfered that will show leaks on that face....

plus I have to agree with the above comment also pics 1 and 2 isnt looking too good in the area of the Vas also the metal work outside the hatch is deformed this is looking likely to be the point entry for rain now where it tracks and exits is another Q....
