Hi,

Thinking of repainting our 71 bus either "coral red" or "sealing wax red". Maybe with cream, beige or light grey bumpers.

I know they aren't "official bay window" colours - but at least they are pucca VW colours.

Also considering the same cream, beige, light grey colour for the roof - but not convinced if this might be "too much"...

Any ideas/opinions?

Cheers,

Mike

It's your bus - there's no right or wrong!

If you see a colour you like (be it VW or otherwise) you should go for it, no-one else can say it's wrong...

That aside, I think grey bumpers would look great!!!

;)

Thanks for the replies :)

I don't think I've ever seen a coral red (or sealing-wax red) bay before...

Hope nobody beats me to it now!!! LOL

Ceiling wax red is a beautiful colour, with the cream top it is a perfect combination. I have got ambitions of painting my Caravelle those colours one day. And having the bumpers match the top is classic retro.
As stated above though it is your toy , so whatever you choose will be the right choice.
Get over to the busselecta and have a play. I think this colour is a bit on the orange side but it isn't all that far off eh?
I couldn't resist the deluxe trim and step.

I saw a very very nice red bottom cream top early bay driving through Grenwich last sunday, it looked very cool.

should have followed it and got them on here! the more the merrier :D

Hi lobus. Cool picture. Thanks :)

My preference would be to simply paint the roof of the bus beige/grey (and not the entire top-half).

However, I'm now tempted by a chestnut brown roof... But not sure whether to have bumpers the same colour as the roof (i.e. brown), or the body (i.e. red)?

Decisions decisions...

'spose I ought to get the welding etc started before dreaming of colour schemes LOL

My crossover is chianti down and white up top but I saw an early in the car park at Sandown yesterday except cream up top and it looked sweet - real classy and seemed to suit the low light vibe. Less contrast. Nice.
