Are they supposed to be fairly difficult and require a few hits with a mallet to get them off? I couldn't see a worm / release gear to loosen the shoes off the drum.. :|

Are the rears the same? :poke:
 
Back the shoes off with the adjusters if required, and maybe a wee mallet tap, but they should come off easy enough.

Is it in the hole at the top? All I could see in there was brake shoe... :oops:
