I have got a 71 bay import with original red rear lenses with chrome surround fitted, think I need to replace these as not legal in uk? Wiring all correct for uk spec. Can anyone suggest where I can get lenses (red and Amber) that will fit and seal correctly within original dimensions as ones I have seen on web are bigger.
Thanks

I've ran all red for 20 years without a problem. If you do get pulled at a mot get a set of cheap ones to pop on temporally.

I also run all red and no mods to reverse lights. KwikFit mot'd last couple of yrs with no issues....

I have rewired and put amber bulbs in the reversing lights.

I have done this too in my '71. I think legally you can't have red indicators after about '65 (I remember arguing the toss with a copper after he pulled me in my old '65 bug). Still gave me a producer too

I run uk bulb holders but red lenses, for the indicators I use a green bulb as through the red lens they shine orange

Im planning on using reverse lights as indicators with orange bulbs then having a separate spot on the bumper for a reverse light.

Legally don't have to have a reverse light for MOT but is handy

check out this we discussed it some time back

it is technically a MOT fail but it is entirely possible to change the backs to euro style keep the reds and the reverse lights and fit green indicator bulbs to flash orange read the topic i think i quoted on how to wire it using existing cables as the rear lights run on two wires left and right where only one is needed

i did it on mine and it works a treat
