Hi Guys, I have a 1971 Early Bay and have fitted a reversing light switch. I have tested the switch prior to fitting in the gearbox and the circuit and is all okay. However when fitted to the gear box there is no activation. I have shimmed in and out but no joy when reverse is selected. Were some gearboxes fitted without the ability to activate a reverse switch?? Switch is fitted in the correct blanking plug too. Something tells me though that this box doesn’t have what is needed inside to activate the switch or did the Early Bay have a different activation switch??

Any help or ideas gratefully received.

Regards
Deano

Carefully remove the new switch, make sure you are not in reverse and put your finger in the hole.
Feel around and you should find nothing restricting the hole. Then get into the cab put it in reverse yourself so you are sure.
Get back under and put your finger back in the hole. You should find it should be restricted by a smallish flat feeling plate.
Not very technical I know but try this for starters.
