I'm thinking of getting some rock and roll bed hinges and making my kombi full length seat into a rock and roll affair.

Has anyone done this?

How good are the JK rock and roll bed hinges?

Cheers,
Ollie

I have the JK hinges and are a piece of plop to put in, just take your time and measure a million times :D

Full width bed rules!

I don't know if the JK hinges will work with an original rear seat.

Check out the "Z bed hinges" thread on here, if you want to keep the stock seat ;)

You want to use the stock vw rear bench?

why not go the Z products route as thats in essence what your doing just using a different hinge...unless I misread something....

They do say great minds think alike... Aarons reply was so soon after mine it even came up on the page when I submitted my post!

The best bit about the jk hinges is if you open the back door and "click up" the seat, it acts like a sofa and you can sit upright and look out the back (over the sea with a large mug of cider!) I dont think you can do this with the z hinges. 8)

I've been looking at the Z hinges but I think they're gonna be too expensive for me.

Just wondered if anyone had made a rock and roll bed using the standard microbus seats?

I just won some r&r hinges on ebay.

Do you have to drill holes int e floor to fit them?

:?:

Im thinking of fitting a 3/4 R&R to my bay as the back seat is fixed, does anyone have any dimensions / plans for a 3/4 Rock & roll
Sorry to hi-jack your thread

Depending on the hinge design you dont usually have to drill holes in the floor. The hinges attach to the wood that makes up the seat.

Photobucket isnt working for me at the moment but i do have alot of photo's. Depending on your technical ability its an easy job. I made mine in a couple of hours.

Buy the Keeping your bus alive mag in W H Smiths Ollie shows how to fit a R n R bed

Youl not be able to use the hinges without a lot of re-engineering......and finding someway to raise the bench up off the floor when its rotated into place with the JKs'...good luck....
