Well I've just gotten in from a 700 mile round trip to Newquay, Cornwall in the Splitty.......... and it didnt miss a heartbeat!
Hit 70 once but kept to a steady 55-60 mph all the way there and back, and on the journey home it was gusts and heavy rain and for the second time (the first time being 5 years ago when I found the van and put it back on the road) it did it with no complaining.
And once there it housed me and a mate and all our stuff and also stood proudly on show!
Sounds silly but I am so proud of my van, I think it deserves a well earned bath! As for Run-To-The-Sun, well as a semi VW event (to us anyway) it has almost had its day. The Show n Shine was good but the festival itself really is just one big rave and of the people there around half of them were "chemically enhanced" shall we say and quite wasted but whatever floats your boat...... I enjoyed chilling and meeting some cool people and seeing all the VW's and generally had a really good time with my mates ..... but I think it will be my last year as I think I prefer the strictly "Air-cooled events" these days....
Here are some pics from Run To The Sun (the weather was'nt too bad at all this year!) Pics are Saved For Web use so there should be no bandwidth or slow download problems
