I am always quiet in January for mechanical work. I buy & sell a car or too to keep me going...

I don't think I will be offering discounts to try to get some work in. I don't make much money as it is.

Bought a new car at the VW garage last weekend, me and the misses were 3rd in the que! bare in mind that there were 10 sales reps all busy. VW are doing well, but we did get a good bargain on the new Polo  8)

Vw also hold their 2nd hand value aswell 8)

dear tofufi,

thank you for entering the councillor's *guess the woolies and win a pie* competition.

although you have not been successful this time, at least you bothered to have a go and didn't leave the councillor looking like a right tw@t desperately waiting for a response.

please feel free to guess again.

yours in fun,

councillor.gov.uk admin team.

there biggest seller was pick and mix! the rest was cheap tat. And if you sell cheap tat what do you expect :? , youll go out of business sooner or later.

so it seems that people would buy bits for their toys rather than feed their kids and pay their mortgage eh.
shops selling cheap tat are doing well at the moment, largest chain of £ shops have just announced record sales.
recession is only just beginning .
I remember the last recession, being made redundant whilst have 2 kids and a mortgage.
yeh ,I am an old git. :)

Any VW business based around importation isnt going to be having any sales anytime soon I wouldnt think, the way the £ is sliding :(

I normally love Dubfreeze as the traders are normally full of freshly imported used parts from the Coast of Plenty, but I suspect there will be slim and pricey pickings this year.

I can see some people with extra cash to spend this year, due to reduced mortgage payments etc, and a diminishing stock of good used parts will drive prices up, not down ....... same goes for good imported vans that are here, natch.
