The seats on my 69 are stripped , and on the passenger side i have found 3 of the long springs in the seat base are broken and one of the coil springs in the side of the base is broken too ,

My question is are these available to buy to replace or do i need an old seat to rob these parts ???

Thanks Graeme

Hi Greame,I had this problem. The upholsterer had them welded up however, whoever welds them mustn't put too much heat into them as they are tensioned and excessive heat may weaken the springs. worked fine for me.

.... if you mean the curvy 'zig zag' springs then I just bought a couple from a holstery supplier (just eBay 'zig zag spring) and cut them to length and bent the ends to shape. From memory they were only a couple of quid....

Not too sure about the coil spring, but if couldn't rob an old seat would be tempted just to overlap the two broken ends by 20mm and bind the overlap tightly with picture hanging wire or similar, wouldnt expect this to affect the feel or height of the finished seat significantly.

The springs at the front of my passenger seat are broke, might be worth going halves on an old seat frame ;)

I used http://www.upholsterywarehouse.co.uk/acatalog/Double_Cone_Spring.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for my double cone springs! Good service.
