Guys
I've never driven anything other that a bus with a standard gear-stick. Can you explain the benefits of the various shifters pls - what difference does it make to your driving experience?
Cheers
Ricky

The biggest advantage in an aftermarket shifter is the reduced throw. Most claim to reduce throw by about 30%. Makes the gear selection feel a little more modern and more like a car than an old truck.

You could for a cheap trial buy one of the empi quick shift kits, I use one but I wanted to keep stock shifter ,worked a treat with all new bushes :D

Are you going to any shows this year? - you can happily have a go in mine if you like to make a comparison. Have a locking Gene berg LHD shifter. Couldn't be happier with it and the improvement it made to my already refurbished and renewed standard shifting.

Precise, fast and slick shifting with a reverse lockout
Will be at Stanford, Aircooled, dubs@castle and BusFest 8)

Guys. Thanks for all the responses and the offer to try one StuF. Much appreciated and I will look out for you :D
