Sliding Door Lock

Hi,
Does any one know how sliding door should lock on the inside?
I have a little lever near handle, but it do`nt move :?
Any help or advice would be cool.

on my 72 - you close the door, pull the handle all the way up, then turn the little lever - door is locked.
If you dont pull the handle up then the little lever wont turn.

i think the handle on my 1970 Westy is upright when door is closed.
The little lever seems stuck :x
Need to lock door from inside when camping.

Has someone reinstalled the handle the wrong way up then? or is my crosser special iirc the handle/lock fitting is square so the handle could in theory be fitted in 4 different ways.

the inside handle should point straight down when "at rest".
