Hi!

How much?

1 wheel? And it's not even painted, and it's been welded!

they often go for £1200 each so that's a cheap wheel, probably due to it being welded :?

Rarity value, and one-upmanship! At that price you would be more than a little p***ed if you kerbed it, and weekly polishing sessions (more in the wet) would soon get rather boring. Why MWS hasn't made a mag version for the racers I don't know - China has no problems with all the nasties associated with magnesium.

Really? Wow - and to think just a few short years ago I'd have just walked past a pair thinking they were "just" old wheels :D

Limited production numbers and few survivors due to magnesium properties mean they are relatively rare. Most original wheels command a premium. Comparing MWS or any repros doesn't really work.
They are 'the' cal look rim

Scarey isn't it?

Know a couple of people with a full set, but neither of them are willing to chance them on the strip, they're just for slow!

But the best one is an old boy round this way, he used to run them back in the 70s, racing 356s. They were unloved and they were cheap  but they were light. He reckons he broke at least a dozen of them. Didn't quite believe him until he showed me the cracked (and very furry!) one he was using as a hose tidy on the side of his shed....
