Somehow I forgot to sort the tax on my 1303 last year it seems, have now declared SORN and expect some kind of fine for missing it. Crazy on free tax eh?

Question is whether to admit to having had the car on the road over the last year! Muggins drove it up to Santa Pod and also Southend - what's the chance they had cameras which pick that up?

I'm normally honest but am tempted to deny it & say it's been in the garage all the time.

Advice please!!

in N.I. we get fined regardless if we miss tax or SORN, although there is a grace period of 2 weeks from the renewal date, i cant comment on the mainland sorry.

Cheers - but it's almost a year for me so no chance of avoiding the fine! My concern is that I've had the car out assuming a couple of times I'd taxed it as I did every other year the letter arrived.

Well... if its been a year i would chance my arm  .

We get a letter after 2 weeks as a final reminder then fine :(

its it regged to your home address?

take the fine for being stupid and keep your mouth shut on the driving, you'll have had a letter by now....

sorry to hear that Mike....whats the penalty?

Just keep schtum. If youd have been clocked, they would have had you by now.

I never drove the car to Santa Pod and it certainly wasn't in the lineup at Southend after the KK meet in December!

I reckon the fine is £100 - my mate had the same thing happen a couple of years ago.

Maybe it's all down to that good and bad balancing thing. We had burglars in ten days ago, they nicked a video camera. With some quick thinking I remembered the big battery and directional microphone - as a result the only suitable replacement was a cool £599. I'm still in credit even with the fine!
