Hi all

New to the forum, here's my 70 pick up

ry%3D400

I want to mount some speakers and amp etc in the front of my pickup but am unsure where to mount the speakers. Unlike in a bay where it's easy to mount them somewhere in the back they need to go in the front, ideally not in the door panels as they are soggy and will no doubt rattle like mad!

Where has everyone else mounted theirs? In the kick panels? If so, what type of kick panels as the ones in now seem way too flimsy to mount 6x9's into.

I've got all the bits and am ready to wire up and get going but need to know where to put these damn speakers.

Any advice would be gratefully received, any pics of ypur speaker installations would be great too ;)

Hi welcome to EB. ;)

I just put a pair of 4" in the kick panels, I can't see 6x9s going in comfortably to be honest.

Doors are the best option, with new panels (lined with polythene to stop them getting soggy) but
watch the check strap with the door closed it might hit the speaker - ask me how I know.

you could mount one in your glove box facing down, some bloke on here did it.

Check this out it's HALF of my install, got it wired up on the weekend and it sounds frickin awesome!

How about some small speakers off a surround unit mounted in the top rear corners of the cab and then a sub under the middle seat in the spare wheel well

I put 2 small speakers (10 cm) together under the dash where the mono speaker could be.
Tomorrow i'll take some photos... (got to do some jobs too!)

Cheers all :D

faux, that looks like what I had in mind. What are the kick panels made of?

on a seperate note, I've only got a 2 way amp, does that mean it will only power 2 speakers or can I bridge it to run 4?

I used mdf then acoustic cloth,

If you have a 2 way amp I would run the mids and tweeters off the head unit then bidge the amp to run a small sub.
