Have you tried running without one?
when we re-built the beam the original shock was shot so we didnt re-fit it.

i replaced all of the bushes but the bus still wanders quite a bit

as its my first bus i didnt know if this the norm or whether i need to buy and fit a new steering damper?

just wondering what the general consensus is whether to run with a steering damper or not :?:

Why run one, in fact you might as well remove the dampers too.......

FIT A NEW ONE THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE -I suspect you'll invalidate your insurance running as you are (with no damper)

The damper stabilises the steering system and prevents shimmy when going over bumps.

"If we could have left it off and saved the time and expense of fitting one - we would have"

Contrary to the beliefs of some, VW were/are in the business of making money and did not fit parts for the fun of it or to get rid of unwanted stockpiles of components
