Need to know if I'm being stupid or what!!, need to take the steering wheel off but can't even get the horn button off, am I wrong it should just pop out no?
Cheers.

Should put straight off. Make sure you only try to prize the black centre off and not the silver bit too. Might be the problem.

Prey your steering wheel pops off easily. Some can be a real bitch.

Mine was bloody terrible to get off - I ended up smashing it off with a hammer (gently) showering the front of my bus with bits of black bakelite!

Mine was a bugger too....

The centre black horn push is Bakelite and may be quite brittle so run a fine blade under it and carefully lift. Then undo the big nut but leave it one a few turns so when the steering wheel does come off it doesn't knock your teeth out! Then loads of penetrating spray. Then hit from below for ages with your fists. After an hour. Pop. Well that's how mine went. Sore wrists!

Or maybe try and blag a steering wheel puller and do it properly :D

Good luck.

Mine was a nightmare, after pulling with all my might it came off with such force my head went through he headlining above :-( BIG head = BIG rip!!! just booked in for a new headlining in December.... :sad0049:

Get a couple of big washers, cut a slit in both slide under the wheel making sure the slots do not line up and then you can use a puller on it, works a treat.

good advice to leave the nut on ! when mine eventually came off it smacked me straight in the face leaving me with a nice egg lump to the forehead

If you've got til next week....
Ours wouldn't shift for anything (and even using a proper tool that blagged use of from someone I know).
So filled the middle up with wd40 while the horn push was off (proper little pool of it) and left it.
When got around to having another go at it a couple of months later, it just lifted off no bother  :D

All done gents cheers, just one last thing, the ring on the underside of the wheel that cancels out the indicators shpuld be positioned where?
Mines a RHD bus so I assume it'll be on the right or bottom as the indicators are on the left?

Did anyone see camper van crisis he used a puller and boiling water from the kettle did the trick for him

Make sure any puller goes properly underneath, and doesnt just sit on the plastic, all my puller did was crack all the black wheel covering!
Ended up beating the metal plate underneath with a hammer and punch.Wheel had only been on 12 months!

I got a steering wheel protector washer thing from Butty and used a 3 leg puller and it came off in seconds but with a bang, definitely leave the nut on.

The wd40. Idea was good. Ended up drilling holes in mine and twatting it to bits. Glad you remembered the cancelation ring, I didn't and had to fight the replacment wheel back off, air was Blue !!

I tried boiling water, WD40, rubber hammer and swearing, had to get a local garage with a puller to remove it in the end

Why didn't I buy my bus years ago !?

Just bought one of Butty's tools, with regards to a puller, would one of these be up to pulling the wheel off??
