Subaru engine

Hi guys I was wondering what subaru engine people fit in their campers? I'm looking to upgrade my stock 1600 and the wife wants to pull a small caravan. Am I better off with a 1776?

I fitted EJ22 in a previous bus. Was really good.

I'll probably go for a EJ25 non turbo when I do it again. The turbo ones are more complicated to fit and a bit over the top in my opinion.

Ej22 are getting a bit old now
Ej25 are newer and current
Some early ej25 were quad cam and
suffered from head gasket issues.
Quad cams are wider too

EJ20 is vast improvement over 1600 aircooled, but I'd go for 2.5 if I went Subaru again.
1.9Tdi next for me though for towing as the Subarus rev great but have no torque for towing
