hello

has anyone got any pics or info of how the 'lifters' are attached to the cables! i have the 'lifters' and the cables but they aren't attached! can they be attached?

this is what i mean by lifter, the slidy lifter but that fits to the roof!

i'm in the middle of putting my roof in, it's a jigsaw, i'm a bit on from you i'm at the winder at the mo trying to get the cables and winder to work.

i'm not to sure what you mean tbh,
we put the runners in place first and put a few screws in to hold them in place (cables fitted before they go in to the van. make sure there fitted in the right runners and cross over at the front where the winder gear should sit.

once runners are in fit the back of the sunroof on the bit you have photoed above clip them in the roof, and make sure you clip over the 2 metal straps as i think this it the bit that makes the roof lift at the back. once the back end is clipped in side the roof back nice and easy and even,

we left the front of the runners loose so we could clip the front runners on the rail.

as you slide the roof back by hand the roof cables ( which should still be hanging over the roof above the cab area) should nicely slide to there proper place in the gutter area.

i'm no expert and is my first experience with sunroofs so i'm not sure if the above method is correct, but it's worked for us and well were nearly there.

make sure everything is clean oiled up nicely, i have done this and even with brand new cables it is really tight so slide, so not to convinced the winder will take it.

i've had great advice from the lads here, i'm sure someone will be along soon to help.

i've hunted the net for instructions but i can't find any, have a good look at the roof and cables before you do anything it makes sense after a while.

ok looked at your photo again.

the end which pops out with the nut on the end?? that bit marries up with the hole in the sunroof it's self.

the bit that had the spring looking bit..when it's attached to the roof there are at each side 2 metal straps about 5mm thick, slide those over the spring looking bit, i believe this is what raises the roof when it closes

thanks for the info above guys, sure this will come in handy :)

what i mean is the alu cast thing in the picture - how is it attached to the cables, and where!

i have cables that i bought but came without the ends attached. in the picture there are no cables!

i want to know if i can attcah the ends and get it to work with a winder!

hope i make sense, cheers

iii look at mine tomorr and take some pics, see if i can help answer your question

ahh i see its sort of brazed to it! think ill machine up some more 'ends' and weld them to the cable! hopefully that should work! wooo

Best of luck,my experience is that they cannot be joined back together. If you do manage to do it let me know and I will send more for you to join.I think the only thing to do is buy new cables!
I still haven't got round to putting cables in yet-still manually sliding..any advice on reinstalling the inner cover would be great.
Regards paul

i think if i fab the 'ends' up using steel then they can be welded onto the cables! worth a go anyway! cant help with the headliner panel as mine was missing!

i have got hold of a metal section liner but not sure if another hardboard panel backed in headliner matirial is required?

dude did you have any joy with this???

mine are now snapped away from the runners  2 new cables down the shoot (long story)

ive decided to just keep it manual, for the summer at least i want to enjoy using my bus now. maybe try something in the winter.
