to say that our bus has been returned from the bodyshop and is now sitting in our driveway... with no glass, or doors and half the floor missing

The bodyshop that was working on it has gone into administration and in order to stop all the vehicles being locked-in/impounded the foreman rounded up as many low-loaders as he could and got all the customer vehicles returned to their owners.

So I guess I'm "lucky" on that count - but the worst thing is that the bus is no longer watertight or secure :(

Anybody know of a good restoration place nearby to M25/J11?

If it doesn't get booked back in somewhere soon - we might have to re-think our plans... :(

firstly, sorry to hear that. but you're lucky that someone had a heart and brought it you round.

good luck on your search, i'm not in your area so can't help soz

Fecking hell at least you got it back, that said even in administration they couldnt have done owt with your property (assuming it is registered in your name), it couldnt have been swallowed as an asset of the company but it may have taken time to get hold of it....

Good luck with your search hope you havent lost money on it....

Have you not thought of contacting SlammedKustom and getting it into his new venture, comes with plenty of recommendation and nice honest geezer, operating out of Tottenham...If he cant do it he should be able to pass you on to someone..

Thanks for all the support guys. It's times like this that you get a real measure of what a forum's like 8)

Fortunately I hadn't paid any money upfront - but then again, no real work had been done anyway. They've taken bits off and cut more stuff out if anything!

I'll PM slammedkustom (unless slammedkustom reads this first :) ), but it doesn't look like we'll be going to the south of France (as planned) in it this year!!!!

Oh crap!! I know where you are coming from as i have been there!!

I had to bust my old EB from the unit as the guy restoring went AWOL  Poor old van came back looking like what you describe.

I hope you get things sorted out ok. I know you imagined it would come back looking all shiney as i did, what a gutting feeling!! Chin up dude :(

Cheers guys...

Got the old cab doors back on, and have re-fitted the rear hatch and rear engine lid - and although there's no glass fitted (apart from the cab door windows) - it at least it looks a bit more secure (to any passing opportunist scumbag).

I even managed to lock the cab doors and the slider too!!! A sign of true quality :)

Give Mike F a shout i think hes got SKs number as has Carole, there more than happy with his work, I know hes quite busy though

Feeling bit down now - the missus and I have been discussing various bus scenarios and top of the list right now is throwing in the towel on the 71 and buying a runner instead :(

I know it sounds rash - but today has been a real knock back in terms of our plans for the summer.

Going to bed now - to see if I can stop thinking about it for more than 30 seconds :(

Is the only thing you're worried about is the windows being out?

If so thats an easy job to sort , then you will at least be secure

Where in Surrey are you?

I've got some thickish plastic sheeting and will be gaffer-taping the windows later this evening/this week - at least it'll be water-tight(ish).

Also need to give various panels etc a dusting of primer where things were cut out, or buzzed off, leaving bare metal.

We're in Walton-on-Thames, about 15 mins from M25 J11 or about 5 mins from Sandown Park.
