I think primer is a bad idea, not 100% sure on this but I have heard that it soaks moisture into it and will start to rust,
Rust preventive paint would be best even something like hammerite??
I expect I will be corrected on this quite quickly!!

If you need a hand popping some windows in just give me a shout I'm only in Surbiton and I work in Walton so I'm pretty close to you :)

You're right about the primer - it will allow water to pentrate through to the metal - I wouldn't recommend Hammerite either as it can be tricky to paint over...

;)

mattyd72: Thanks for the offer of help - and I might just take you up on it yet too.

But first I'll need to hunt thru all the bits that were bundled into the bus and see if there are any window rubbers. I'm fairly sure they cut out the front and back screens.

If you're ever in Walton and at a loose end, feel free to call by and have a laugh, I mean look, at our bus

Cheers,

No problem, If your short of rubbers Custom and commercial do genuine ones and they are in Leatherhead.
I got mine from there and it took a morning to do all of them 8)

Thats a shame doood  never fear tho there is always a way to sort stuff. Get the windows back in yourself (get a mate to give you hand as its a 2 doood job) give SK a call he will sort you im sure.

If you have any further probs give Paint Tech a call, they operate in Southend, (cant find the number at the mo) but are a mobile company aswell and can come to your house and spray on the drive!!! :D

Out of interest any pics in its current state....not to laugh at honest just morbid curiosity and to see if theres any hints we can throw your way....

TBH it doesn't look half as bad since I put the cab doors, rear hatch and engine lid back on.

And the cargo/seating area is full of misc' repair panels, glass etc so you can't see where the floor has been cut away.

I'll see what I can take later this evening.

Here's a link to some WIP photo's I took a while ago...

Quick update:

Refitted the windows in the drivers side ok.

Went to put the rear-screen in and noticed some odd-looking decals on it. Turns out they've given me the screen from the other bus that was in there - and it's perspex not glass :( Will have to try and track the other bus owner down as I also have some door glass of his, and another shorter side-window.

I never had a rubber for the passenger side rear panel window so as a temporary measure I've gaffa taped it with some plastic sheet.

Also didn't have a rubber for the sliding door glass either - so I tried one of the Westy louvres and it fitted a treat :)

Am now back in the phone-around-looking-for-resto-places routine :(

Anybody used Kultklassix (nr Guildford)?

Cheers,

Mike
