The C word

Ok got your attention.

When I bought the van 6 years ago the rear windows had tint on them. Last year when putting the van back together I took the film off. Don't like it. I noticed there were scratches in one window. Now as my wife has spotted in the sun light of Mumbles the last owner put the film on because the scratch spells the C Bomb.

How can I get the scratch out of the window? Cheers

Change the glass.

Hassle but I think it may have to be. I didn't even notice it even when putting it in.

Before removing and replacing the glass give this kit a go

Might work and remove the offensive scratches

Small piece of cloth over a square ended stick something like a small wooden spatula, valve lapping paste then take out the scratches, rub the rag covered spatula length ways so you`re only rubbing about 1/8th inch wide about 3mm along the length of the letters then go a little wider perhaps almost finger width and change the area of cloth frequently. Finish up polishing with brasso then toothpaste if it ain`t quite smooth enough for you. It works on small areas but never tried it on larger ones, I bet it would still show up on fogged up windows though. Try it on a small section until you`ve mastered it, not sure if you could mechanise it with a polishing mop after the first stage by hand.

Funny thing Ozzy bought the van from a lady in Bristol it was a heap of junk in her garden. Must check the V5 for her address. Wanted to send her pics of the finished article and ask her about the C Bomb

Rubbing is working slowly. I'm away this week so set the long haired general (wife) a task of completing the job in my absence. Inspection Friday 22.00hrs sharp :lol:
