best part of 600 hard earned  you make your own mind up

deffinately not one for the slammed

I didnt 'get it' myself, and didnt like the low protrusion ....

(I also didnt like the underseal on a £13k van ;) )

to be honest I'd prefer to spend 160 on a refurb and spend the change on some other much tastier pieces....

seems a little bit like a work in progress not yet perfected, but thats my personal view

plus you loose the pedal tray :?

I fitted one of these to my mates split crew cab,
It works well once fitted, :)
But I didn't like having to use washers to pack out one side of the bevel box to stop it binding up, :?
I think once they had got the design right CE must have farmed some parts out for fabrication cause it all seemed a bit tight and could have fitted better.

didnt make the show, but from what u guys are saying, it sounds like the steering rack aint that great for lowered buses

anyone else get a good look at it please

Thought these CE kits were for splitties only?

I spoke to Red 9 Design about their beam and EZ Rider kits at VanFest and they let on that they'll have an electric power steering option out next year at some point, which would be something to look out for...althought it'll be pretty pricey.

Very Suitable as you will no longer have a box hanging down underneath

Hi Dave

I hear from a friend at vanfest that you will be selling this very soon, could you let me have more information, as im very interested in this

Thanks
Gary Dunlop

I've actually got one of these on order already although this is the first time I've seen the bay kit as I didn't make it to van fest. I've seen the split kit before though so I had a good idea of what it was about.

Our van failed its MOT for the second year running this year on the steering box. Last year that was fair enough as it was the original box so it was knackered, this year it failed again on the box after having spent £250 on a reconditioned box only 12 months ago that has lasted about 6000 miles max.

I've not spoken to the supplier yet but I'm hoping to get my cash back as I wouldn't consider this reconditioned box fit for it's purpose even if it is just outside the assume 12 months guarantee.

The CE rack seemed like a good option, not cheap but better then spending £250 every year on a new reconditioned steering box made of cheese.

Should turn up this week, I'll post some more pics when I get it fitted, I'm quite looking forward to getting it on there. Our vans not slammed so shouldn't be a problem.

there's guys on vwkd.com who have been building their own rack using bedford rascal racks coupled with electric power steering from vauxhall corsa's.

it seems that if someone does the donky work then they can pretty much ask what they want.

at vanfest there was a guy selling rear disk brake conversions consisting of oe t4 disks, passat calipers, and a peice of laser cut steel £600. if you prepared to do a bit of graft yourself you can save a mint. i dont think ce will be using any ground braking bits and would like to guess that they are also using bedford rascal bits. i had a look at the kit at vf and liked it but with beam, brakes, steering, etc you could throw 4k at the underside of your van if you bought into all these ready made kits

hmmmmmm

so what about the rack that protrudes lower and beyond the lip of the bumper see pic 2.... how many speed bumps before that wipes out the benifit of doing away with the old box....

i will be having a chat with them at some point, exchanged a few emails today tho, and CE dont seem to think its a problem

Gary
You know these are just for 68-72 buses. The rack sits just below the front bumper line. There should be no clearance issues as its way above the beam.

I am only running at about 3.5" lower all round and have caught my tow hitch a couple of times on speed bumps. From what I saw of this it sits in a similar depth from the bumper to my tow hitch.

My issue would be that the beam is protected by two big round things.....Tyres! that tend to lift the beam over speed bumps etc

If this protrudes below the bumper it will ground on speed bumps etc, there is no doubt about this. Even on a stock bus you will see the odd scrape on the bumper and pedal cover. This is due to the large over hang.

I'm gutted as my recon box is s**t and was hoping to get one. I know these work great on splits and the rack is higher than the og box.

I do however think it is worth us all taking this up with Dave, he really does listen to people if you go in with the right attitude.

Come on lets support him on this one.

I think its and ace idea, just needs a few tweeks thats all. Dave is a good bloke and will get everything sorted im sure. I wont spend the cashola just yet tho..........
