If you want an Early Bay buy one.:D

If you did change a late one to front low lights, would you have to tell your insurance company as you are removing the crash protection that a late bay offers.

to be honest if someone whacks you in the rear the "strengtheners" arent gonna be a great help, if any thing they will make the repair harder and more expensive.
my lights got done (changed) a few years back, looks much better.

also on a side note we all lower our vans which means the bumper that is meant to be the first point of contact in a crash is below most crumple zones on other cars!
when my bus was on the floor there was a pair of headlights, a front panel and a steering column between me and johnny mondeo in the advent of an accident!
makes you think...

Im a firm beleiver in leaving stuff as its meant to be regarding stuff like that, but, hey ....

I put my old lowered bay into the back of a car some years ago, only slowly, but the cars towbar just tore up the front panel instead of the bumper .... still, got the rotton front panel replaced as part of the job so it all ended up good. 8)

thats my point, lucky you werent going faster!
it not so much that bus drivers are "bad" drivers but johnny mondeo has ABS etc and can stop a lot quicker than we can!

im currently uprating my lights to LEDs to make them brighter and safer.
also have a slim third brake light!

be careful people, its a jungle out there!

Don't know if you'd have to tell the insurance company from a safety point of view, but you'd certainly have to tell them you've got a bus that looks like it's worth stealing now! No one would steal one of those hidious high lighted buses!

I've just replace my wiring loom, the brake lights are real bright. I was gonna get one of those Safety Stars as a 3rd brake light. I was gonna fit a led one in the rear window but I don't wanna drill my tailgate as I have only just got it sorted.

I'm with Clem on this one. If he wanted an early bay looker why not just buy an early bay :? I made the decision to leave them as they were when i changed the rear corners on the bus when restoring it to leave it as the factory meant it. I know the small lights look a lot better but how far do you go in changing it to look earlier
I suppose it's horses for courses but not for me :D

not quite all of us :D mine is standard height. I got hit by a Vectra and it was right in the middle of the bumper, so if your lowered it would be straight into the decklid!

I think if your gonna do it, get NOS full corner sections then you'll get the gorgeous moon vents 8) that just leaves you with the issue of fitting an early decklid and making the valance removable

i fitted the half moon vents and im currently making a removable rear valance cos its a pain getting the engine out!

one of my friends had a split panelvan that we would whip the engine out of to do a service on as it was so easy, 10 minutes it was out!
no rolling round on the floor for us!

s'nothing wrong with big rear lights :p
especially when fitted with LEDs :D
