Hi,

Anyone got any tips for putting a new frame rubber on a rear vent window please before I get annoyed and replace with a full window please? I have tried plenty of lube and now even drilled out rivets to slide back post on, but no luck. Its a ****** of a job :/

Hi, do you mean the quarter light, If so are you trying to do it on your own or do you have someone to give you a hand?

Yeah the rear side window ventvent/quarter light.

Yep .. They're a bugger!

Make sure your opening quarter is fully forward .. I bend the tabs up slightly to allow it to pull right in ..

Then start the 3/4 glass using strong nylon chord ( tent guide line is great ) and pull through from the front first .. I use wax oil to help it in.

A second pair of hands and glass suction holders really are necessary

Good luck

they are a bugger to fit your hands will hurt, when i did mine i think it took about 3 nights to get it on  i know i did take one apart to fit the rubbrs but that could of been the front one  not much help there

A little update. Bought a big tub of silicon lubricant from screwfix, put the thicker side of the rubber in first then the thin side eases in :)

Now just to fit the window in the frame :/

You can't beat silicon grease, make sure when you've fitted the quarter lights they are fully pushed up and the forward metal lugs are attached around the frame and haven't slipped behind the frame - I might be speaking from experience  It makes fitting the 3/4 glass somewhat easier :)
