Hi

had the bell housing bush replaced and the starter motor cleaned out. The camper turns over but will not start.

Oil changed because of possible petrol into fuel tank.
Fuel hose taken off to carb and plenty of fuel getting there.

Is the starter motor solenoid just a pull off which I can clean up like my old mk2 golf?

wd 40d it but I think it could do with an emerying.

Battery fully charged and has always started first time usually.

cheers

Matt

want to get her going so my usual air coolie can check it out.

It can only be fuel or ignition. Check for a spark first

I think in a couple of yrs i'll be up to speed ish with campers, golfs are less complicated sort of, and you don't always need a second body helping!!

Once you have a spark then check the carb for fuel. You might need a hand, check fuel is getting to the carb first by removing file line. Turn it over and catch the fuel in a container. If this is ok then reconnect and check carb is delivering fuel

yes got the fuel to the carb.

Just pulled off a second ht lead and it came apart!!

So ordered a new set will spark test it next!! Changing each lead one at a time!!!

new ht leads are with out metal caps on spark plug and of course current ones do have caps on!!!

Anyway screwed the old one back together!! Test done I cannot see a spark so do I need a new coil or should I go for ht lead replacement first.

Got a spare bosch 0 221 119 027 made in brazil looks scuffed up but unused, previous previous owners stock. How do you know which side the wires go on? As I type that spotted the + and -.

So next step?

I'm going test old coil with new ht leads

Yes replace all 4 leads. Then it's either condenser or coil. You have double checked that it's wired up.

ok end of drama, automatic choke loose and not functioning on start up. Been around the block in her, so now she needs that sorting and a quick tune and she'll be fine!!

you have to place the choke in position by hand and she'll start very roughly. I think the new leads and coil helped too.
