I put my adjustable spring plates on and dropped one spline while I was at it, when dropped one spline though there is around a 6mm difference in the gap between the bottom of the spring plate and the lower metal bump stop. By messing around with the spline combo on one side I've managed to reduce the difference down to 2mm.

Is it ok to do this, having one side down one outer spline and then the other down a combination of inner and outer splines?

Very few are perfect anyhow and the adjustable plates help with tweaking. Funny how nobody measures before they pull them apart  On stock settings, I don`t think they are perfect anyhow, especially after forty odd years of uneven loads etc etc. I should imagine you could get each side as close as F"*k it if you were prepared to play about by messing with inner and outer splines on both sides but would it still be exact when you get down off the jacks, I`m not so sure, so that`s when to measure is my guess.

thanks, I had to mess around with the combination but managed to get the springplate within a degree of the other one. I had the old springplates marked up but when I put them back on they didn't match up either :?

As ozzie said... Uneven load for the last 40 odd years...

I've done a few rear suspension levelling sessions for various customers
