Ok lots ov u guys kinda know me now , I've a t2 bay window pannel van 1968.
I purchased it a year ago
Mot and tax are up for renewal so the other week went to get my free rd tax ( )
And the post office woman said mot due next day so u need to renew that first , so I did !
Went to my local garage - the chap who works there does loads of work on my camper and it went through with just a couple of minor faults!
So today I went to get my free road tax ( ) and she said urrrr no
Yr v11 says you need a goods vehicle test certificate
And it does !
It's wrong
So I ring my mechanic mate n he says he's never heard anything so silly
May need to contact dvla but try a different local post office n maybe they will over look it
And one 10 miles down road did and I now have 12 months road tax and mot. Great !
What's annoying me is next year ill have the same prob. My camper / pannel van imported from Cali 3/4 years ago is a camper / van not a truck or lorry doesn't need a goods vehicle test cos it ain't one. I'm tempted to wait till the motor is off the road maybe October then speak to dvla then
My machanic said may have to get it retested down road ( at lorry mot test centre ) but he said that had never happened bef. He also said dvla may ask to get van weighed to see what cat it should be in! How stupid
What would u guys do ?
B t w I have last years mot in my hand - says class 4 not 7 or blinkin lorry
So why have dvla stated what they have grrrr
And deep breaths ahhhhhhh
