Dear All,
Some time ago I lent my brother in law my carb - I've come to put it back on and I've got a spare vacuum hose!! One end is attached to the manifold, so I thought it must be for servo brakes - but my van doesn't have a servo!!

Any ideas?

If it is a small diameter one, is it the one for the airfilter preheat?

Depends on the year of your air filter setup.

That sounds possible - it is a small diameter hose - like fuel hose!
I've got the same type of air filter as this:

Your engine I think

Can you tell me whereabouts I need to 'plug it in'? - Also, can I replace it with fuel hose (it's a bit perished)?

cheers dude

That is indeed my engine

Just went and took another pic, to show it more clearly.

The plastic connection on the 'snout' of the filter connects to the plastic connection on the top of the filter.

The brass connection on the top of the filter connects to the inlet manifold.

Make sure you connect them the right way round (metal to metal, plastic to plastic) as some filters have the connections on the top the other way round to mine.

Having the air filter connected and working properly makes a huge difference to how they drive, especially in winter/wet weather.

Any hose which will carry the vacuum without leaks will be fine 8)
